Roman offers its users the option of filling out health questionnaires, scheduling telehealth visits, and purchasing medications for direct home delivery using its website, https://ro.co/. Specifically, in the past couple of years, Roman has made a huge marketing push to brand itself as the go-to online seller of prescription healthcare products including weight loss, hair loss, and erectile dysfunction treatments.
A 2022 report conducted jointly by STAT News and The Markup found that code in Roman’s webpages tracked the URLs the user visited and sent them to Google, tracked a users’ answers to a questionnaire and shared the data with Facebook, and tracked when a user added to their cart and sent this information to Facebook and TikTok. “Out of Control”: Dozens of Telehealth Startups Sent Sensitive Health Information to Big Tech Companies.
